All Men Watch Porn

...at least that's what this article states after doing a study at the University of Montreal. The article takes but a few minutes to read but in a nutshell, tells how this University's study took a surprising turn when there was no answer to a call for men in their 20's who had not been users of pornography. Because of this, the study focused on those who had been exposed since, well, that seemed to be the only option.

I find this study very intriguing. #1- Based solely on my own person feeling, I have always felt that the percentages of men who watch pornography always seem too low. #2 - Was this part of the article:

“Pornography hasn't changed their perception of women or their relationship, which they all want to be as harmonious and fulfilling as possible,” the professor added."

I'm assuming the professor got this information just by asking the subjects their thoughts on women and relationships? I'm wondering how accurate a response could be to such a question. I have found after going through therapy with Damien and after talking with men about their pornography use, that they don't truly see how pornography has affected them until they're willing to or if they have some reason to think long and hard about it. I would dare to say most men don't think twice about how watching pornography affects them and I've heard them say countless times, "it's just natural to look at it"....so why would they even open their mind to think otherwise?

I 100% agree with this article, that those men truly believe their views on women are not skewed and that they want "to be as harmonious and fulfilling as possible"in their relationships. Who wouldn't want that??

But is it possible to have that...........when you're spending an average of 20-40 minutes, 2-3 times per week with multiple women and no body else but you knows about it?

Harmonious?....even though it takes two to have harmony and...Fulfilling?...even though it just seems like it's filling a void.....

it's all very intriguing....

Justine,

I concur with your hunch that the publicly reported percentage of porn use is much too low; when coupled with the fiscal intake of the porn industry any one with any semblance of ratiocination would conclude the math is more than tinge fuzzy; however, I am still not convinced that all men watch porn, I just believe within their particular sampling pool they were unable to locate any. (which is still intrinsically disheartening.) I also concur that porn consumers don't regularly cogitate the reason they watch porn nor the detrimental effects porn has on one's marriage or family life (as you wrote about in this post
While one cannot be forced into a time of true introspection, they can be given food for thought in the hopes they will bite.
Thank you for sharing this with us, keep fighting the good fight.

Derek...thank you for your loyalty to reading and commenting to my blog.

Your comment made me realize that it COULD be translated that I, myself, believe all men watch porn. I just wanted to clarify that was the case in this specific article. But I firmly believe there are men, albeit not the majority, that do not watch porn.

Anonymous...I appreciate you looking into this topic further and sharing your information. Thank you for sharing the article.

2nd Anonymous....I'll get back to you ;) However, what I will say now is you bring up a very good point. Every individual is responsible for their own actions. I was never strung out on any drugs - I was just tempted by the wrong things at the right time. It was my choice to do a website. For me to justify it at one point in my life, I obviously wasn't 100% against porn or 'nude modeling' at that time. If i felt then the way I do now, I would have never even opened the doors to that opportunity. I feel the way I do because of what I experienced and what I've learned since. But still....I'll get back to you.

3rd Anonymous....

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Justine,

you wrote:

anonymous and not the 3rd. (as you missed one anonymous)

The 3rd anonymous (from the Netherlands)

It's extremely sad to see how people react to this sort of thing. I have never met a man who didn't look at porn at one point or another, but I myself can verify one negative effect that it has on the psyche. It changes the way you view women and departmentalizes them. If you want to see men at their most unevolved state, watch how they talk in porn forums. Justine, what you are doing now is a good thing, regardless of your religious belief. Most people never see the business side of the industry. The men who have chosen to belittle you, do so because you have introduced the element of reality into their fantasy. Idiots resolve confusion with violence...and yes words can be violent. Don't let them get to you, press on and keep the faith.
